A pilot project to test Mentallys at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal

The CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal and Mentallys launch a pilot project to test the Mentallys platform within an adult mental health access service.

Last Monday, November 3, 2025, marked the start of this six-month pilot project at the Adult Mental Health Access Mechanism (MASMA) of the Saint-Michel and Saint-Léonard CLSCs, where it will continue until May 1, 2026. The project will evaluate how Mentallys Mobile can, on one hand, support users waiting for services by providing immediate access to validated self-care and self-assessment tools, and, on the other hand, foster more fluid and effective communication with the MASMA’s administrative support team through the integration of Mentallys Pro.

The experiment is being conducted in collaboration with the Direction des programmes en santé mentale, dépendance et itinérance (DPSMDI) of the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, the Bureau de la mission universitaire (BMU) of the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (IUSMM), and the CIUSSS’s Telehealth team. It aligns with the CIUSSS’s commitment to supporting innovations emerging from university research and exploring new ways to improve access to care within Quebec’s public health system. The project represents a unique opportunity for collaboration among the fields of health, research-innovation, and human-centered design, with the goal of rethinking access to mental-health services through a social-innovation approach.

The project is supported by an interdisciplinary research team from the Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (CR-IUSMM), composed of Morgane Gabet, Assistant Professor in Health Management, Evaluation and Policy at the School of Public Health, Université de Montréal; Léna Lévesque, Doctoral Candidate in Professional Public Health; and Stéphane Vial, Full Professor at the School of Design, Université du Québec à Montréal and founder of Mentallys. Sidekick Interactive is responsible for the platform’s maintenance and technical oversight.

“This pilot project marks an important step toward the concrete integration of Mentallys within the public-health network. It will help us better understand how a technology specifically designed for a mental-health context, with and for users, can support care pathways and recovery,” explains Stéphane Vial.
